This recruitment is being conducted to fill a full-time Agricultural Inspector in the Agriculture Division. At the II level, Inspectors begin to independently perform field inspections and investigations within their areas of required licensure and may lead a small program. All required licenses must be obtained within 24 months of appointment at the II level and prior to promotion to the III level.

- Conducting surveillance and/or inspections of pesticide application methods, dealers, storage areas and equipment, pest control businesses, and worker safety training records
- Preparing notices of violation, civil fines, and enforcement referrals
- Collecting, maintaining, and transferring investigative samples to State laboratories
- Inspecting agricultural commodities and quarantining commodities, or entire areas, as necessary to protect against injurious pathogens or destructive organisms
- Inspecting Sonoma County organic producers for compliance with Federal and State organic standards, and/or inspects farmers' markets
- The desire for a fast-paced work environment, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and excellent customer service skills
- The ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Good judgment and the ability to make sound decisions, particularly in contentious compliance situations
