Paginator
The Press Democrat, a division of Sonoma Media Investments, is seeking a talented Paginator to join our team. This position will be responsible for monitoring page layouts and pagination for all publications, provide back up for editorial requests with pagination and processing digital images. This role requires a high attention to detail and knowledge of page layout and prepress functions. The successful candidate should be familiar with InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and ftp applications in a PC environment.
This position is responsible for:
- Adjusting sections and publications in Naviga’s Planspeed and NCS systems.
- Adding filler ads per editorial requests.
- Review and monitor legal ads and Life Tribute ads.
- Download commercial pdfs from ftp rename and output to plate.
- Schedule and output pages to plate for printing.
- Track and store pages into achieved servers.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct problem ads using preflight steps.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- One to two years at a newspaper, commercial print shop, graphic arts studio or comparable enterprise is preferred.
- Knowledge of database theory is helpful.
- Strong organization, multi-tasking and self-management skills.
- Proficient computer skills on PC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be flexible to work evening shifts on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a deadline environment.
